What is Polarization Index transformer ?

How to calculate polarization index :
P.I. is ratio of I.R. value measured after 10 min (or value become stable) and I.R. value measured after 1 min.
It indicates dryness of insulation.

Polarization index value must be more than 1.25 and if Polarization index value less than 1.25 it indicates poor condition of transformer insulation.
If transformer is 50 MVA and above class then Tan –Delta test can also be taken to check insulation condition of transformer.
